We updated the OpenRM/Chromium demonstration programs. The vrendBlocksMPI-LOD application, which uses sort-first parallelism and LOD-based textures to accelerate rendering, now new run-time and compile options. The new distribution is known as openrm-demo-CR-1.6.0-2 and may be accessed at the OpenRM Download page.

OpenRM 1.6.0 is released. Check the OpenRM website for access to the distribution. A complete list of features and improvements is much too long to list here. Check the 1.6.0 release notes for complete details. A quick summary is as follows:
- Added support for application-supplied OpenGL display list and texture object identifiers. This feature will make it easy to integrate 3rd party modelers, like Cal3D, with OpenRM applications.
- Added support for OpenGL multitexturing.
- Added support for hardware accelerated 3d textures and volume rendering on Windows.
- Added support for 1D textures.
- Added support for lit, textured vector and point-based primitives.
- Added support for framebuffer clear operations to be specified at the RMpipe level, thereby simplifying and streamlining scene graphs for applications that do not require multiple viewport operations.
- Streamlined initialization interface to simplify integration of OpenRM with 3rd party environments like FLTK, Qt, etc.
- Many, many bug fixes.
- Half a dozen or so new demonstration programs.

Accusoft Corporation releases their Windows version of Visiquest (formerly Khoros Pro), which includes products built using RM Scene Graph technology from R3vis Corporation.

Fall 2004/Spring 2005
During these months, R3vis was working with Tungsten Graphics on a Phase I SBIR grant aimed at providing the ability to use distributed memory rendering platforms in remote and collaborative visualization contexts. The work, known as the "Chromium Renderserver," lets a remote user connect to and run on a parallel rendering resource as if if were a single virtual device using any Xlib or OpenGL application from nearly any type of desktop workstation, including Windows platforms.

Accusoft Corporation has rebranded the Khoros Pro product line formerly from Khoral Inc. as VisiQuest™. With this event, Accusoft represents another commercial licensee of the RM Scene Graph™ scene graph technology.

OpenRM Scene Graph version 1.5.2 is released! Check the OpenRM website for access to the distribution. New features in 1.5.2 include:
- Addition of the (long overdue) RM_QUAD_STRIP primitive type.
- Addition of several new indexed shape primitive types: indexed quads, indexed quad strip, indexed triangles, indexed triangle strips.
- New RMdemo program indexedPrims2D to exercise the new indexed primitive types.
- Vastly updated tfly RMdemo program that produces stunning visuals and that exercises the new RM_QUAD_STRIP primitive.
  
  These images are from the vastly updated tfly OpenRM Scene Graph demonstration program. Tfly is one of approximately two-dozen demo programs that show how to use OpenRM's capabilities.
- Support for 64-bit Linux operating systems, including both 64-bit and 32-bit ABIs.
- Tested support for MacOSX-X11.
- Addition of a "make install" target for the openrm-devel distribution.
- Eradication of several small bugs.

Gordo version 1.5.2 is released. Check the download page of the OpenRM website for access. A new application was created for the Gordo distribution – lightModes – which lets you interactively explore OpenRM's light source and light environment attributes.



These images were produced by the lightModes demo program that is part of the Gordo distribution. Gordo is a set of example applications that show how to combine the scene management and rendering capabilities of OpenRM Scene Graph with the GUI capabilities of the Fast Light Toolkit (FLTK). Version 1.5.2 of the OpenRM/CAVELibrary demos are released. Check the download page of the OpenRM website for access.

- OpenRM Scene Graph version 1.5.1 is released! Check the OpenRM website for access to the distribution. New features in 1.5.1 include:
  - Constant-rate rendering support.
  - Increased pick limits.
  - Auto-spin mode for use with rmauxEventLoop.
  - Texture objects are now shared, which will substantially reduce memory consumption in programs that instance textures.
  - Preliminary support for FreeBSD.
  - New routines to measure and manipulate time.
  - New RMdemo program - fpsVis3d - used to benchmark rendering and test constant-rate rendering.
  - Eradication of several small bugs.
