R3vis Corporation is a privately held California Corporation located in beautiful Marin County, California, approximately 25 miles north of San Francisco. Founded in 1997, our mission is to promote cross-cutting graphics and visualization technology by undertaking research and development activities, promoting graphics technology through commercial and Open Source endeavors, and deploying this technology through strategic partnerships in commercial products, as Open Source projects and as infrastructure in research organizations.
We envision a world in which powerful graphics technology forms an infrastructure as ubiquitous as TCP/IP. With such resources, a new paradigm in graphics applications begins to emerge. These applications are built around the notion that data movement and location management become the challenge, not the actual display of the data on the workstation. Examples of such applications include things like being able to ride your mountain bike over the Himalayas, through downtown Havana or any one of a number of other likely locations from the comfort of your living room, with an experience that is compelling and enjoyable.
R3vis uses an Open Source business model, and is committed to the concept of Open Source software. Our primary product, Open RM Scene Graph, is freely given away. To fund continued development of the technology, our Open Source business model dictates that we sell the most current version of the OpenRM Programming Guide, support, and commissioned research and development. Commercial licensing of the scene graph technology is also a possibility for those organizations that require a traditional software license.
